How To Buy Automobile Insurance
Automobile insurance is a requirement for drivers in many states. If your state requires this type of insurance, then you may need to purchase a policy before you can register your vehicle. Even if you don't need proof of insurance for registration, you will want to make sure you are complying with the law before you get pulled over or get into an accident.
- Make a list of insurance companies you want to do business with. You may have a few companies that you trust or you may be willing to sign up with the company that gives you the lowest quote.
- Fill out the application provided by the company that you choose. You can check to see if they have the application available online or you may need to call a representative directly. You will need to provide your personal information, information about other drivers in your household and your vehicle's make, model, year and VIN.
- Give the company your credit card or bank routing information. If you are making payments, you will be required to make your first payment right away. If you are not making payments, then you will be required to pay the full amount.
- Print out any insurance cards or proof of insurance that are available to you online. Otherwise, you will need to wait for them to show up in the mail or have them faxed to your local Department of Motor Vehicles.
