How to Find a Cruise With Good Child Care

When people take a cruise, they are looking to relax, replenish and release tension. Ever see advertisements of people on cruises? They always look so happy and so refreshed; even the kids look like they are having a great time. It can be hard to relax anywhere if you are not sure how well your kids will be taken care of. Before embarking on a cruise, make sure you are comfortable with its childcare staff and facilities.

  1. Ask anyone who has recently taken a cruise with his kids about the cruise line's childcare facilities. Would he recommend the cruise and its childcare to anyone else; why or why not? Were they attentive, mean or neglectful? If the child is of age to speak for herself, ask the child her opinon. If the person is usually nitpicky over everything, take everything into consideration but dig around some more for yourself.

  2. Ask your travel agent for help. When booking a cruise, it is good to research a cruise yourself, but a travel agent specializes in these things and most likely has gone on cruises before, so she would know what to do and can get information quickly. Let her know that you want a cruise that has exceptional childcare for your budget. Ask if there is a an additional fee for the childcare and if there is a discount for booking early.

  3. Speak with the cruise line about its childcare staff. Ask what type of training and certifications they have and if background checks are done on childcare staffers. Please don't be timid: this is your child and you would only want the best for her. Not to mention the safest place possible.

  4. Cross your 't's and dot your 'i's. If your child isn't toilet trained, is that a problem? What would happen during an emergency, what route would be used so you will know where to meet them? Are there security guards? Any question that you can think to ask that would ease your mind about leaving your baby there or taking the cruise, period.
