How to Juice Cabbage

Cabbage is commonly used in coleslaw but it can also be steamed and used as a side dish. Red and green cabbage varieties make a tasty and nutritious juice that can be enjoyed alone or with your meal. You can easily transform an entire cabbage into a delicious, inexpensive juice with a countertop juicer.

1. Choose a cabbage head that is heavy and firm. The head should have shiny and smooth outer leaves. You can choose red or green.

2. Remove the outer leaves from the cabbage and cut it in half. Cut each half into two pieces.

3. Rinse the cabbage chunks under cool water.

4. Slice the chunks into smaller pieces that will fit into the chute of the juicer.

5. Turn on the juicer. Place one piece of cabbage into the chute of the juicer at one time. Continue to juice the pieces until you have the made the desired amount of juice.

6. Pour the juice into a glass. Drink the juice immediately because some of the beneficial nutrients start to dissipate one minute after it is made.
