How to Remove a Permanent Tattoo
Tattoo removal is a process that can be done but it can also result in scarring and skin disease. There are many methods available to remove a permanent tattoo and these are based on the tattoo itself. Where it is located, how big it is and how old it is are all factors in determining how a tattoo will be removed.
- Dermabrasion: This is a process of tattoo removal which involves freezing. The tattoo is frozen by spraying it with a solution. Once frozen, the tattoo is removed using an abrasive instrument to sand the upper layer of the skin.
- Surgical excision: This process is great for removing small tattoos. The area of the tattoo is numbed using local anesthesia and a scalpel is used to remove the tattoo. The edges of the skin are then brought together and stitched.
- Intense pulsed light therapy: This is a popular method of removing permanent tattoos. This process uses high intensity light to break down the ink of the tattoo into small fragments. Though expensive, this is considered a very effective method.
- Laser: Also considered a very effective method, laser tattoo removal requires that the process be done more than one time to be effective. It involves numbing the tattoo area with cream or gel. A laser light is then used on the tattoo to break down the ink into small fragments. These fragments are then removed by the immune system of the body.
