How to Remove a Truck Bed off a Pickup Truck

Flatbed trucks have quickly gained in popularity over the years. Many truck owners are taking on the task of converting their own trucks into flatbed trucks. Removing a truck bed off of a pickup truck is something that can easily be done in your driveway.

How to Remove a Truck Bed Off a Pickup Truck




  1. Use a jack to lift the rear end of the truck. A jack stand should be placed under each side of the truck. Make sure that the frame of the truck is resting on the stands.


  2. Slide underneath the truck and use a wrench to take off the bolts that are securing the bed of the truck to the frame. There are bolts at both the front and back of the frame.


  3. Disconnect the electrical wiring that is going to the tail lights.


  4. Open the cap to the gas tank and use a small wrench to remove the nuts and bolts around the neck of the gas tank.


  5. Lift the truck bed from the frame. It is highly recommended that you ask for help in removing the truck bed, due to the weight of the bed.
