Remove the old tile and check for moisture. If there is moisture, you will have to replace the tile. Fix any plumbing leaks before you repair the tile.
Replace the old green backboard with new backboard for wet areas.
Lay out the tiles on a template that you cut from butcher paper to draw a pattern. Cut the tile to fit the area. Lease spaces for the grout.
Cut the tiles. Draw a vertical line as a reference point. Choose one row in the middle and draw a line across the backboard half way up the wall.
Apply thinset to the lower area. Put each tile on by sliding it across the thinset to make sure it is coated. Hold it until it is secured. Make sure the grout lines are straight. Clean away any excess thinset.
Allow the tile to dry overnight. Clean the face of the tile and apply a seal. Allow it to dry. Apply grout to fill in the grout lines. Allow the grout to dry for a week and then apply seal.
