How to Set Up a Steam Cleaning Service

Setting up a steam cleaning service is basically the same as starting a business. Although you are not a major corporation, there are still required channels to navigate through in order to legally operate. However, by offering a specific service as opposed to several, you have more breathing room and leeway.

How to Set Up a Steam Cleaning Service:

Step 1: Determine your client base. Decide if you want to provide services to residential or commercial clients or both.

Step 2: Decide if you want to simply start your own small business or purchase a franchise. If you are limited on capital for your investment, you should start small. With this option you are required to purchase your own supplies and equipment. By purchasing a franchise, the franchise furnishes supplies and equipment. Weigh the cost of starting on your own against the cost of the franchise, before arriving at a decision.

Step 3: File an application for a business license. Your local licensing board has the applications and all the information you need to get started. You are required to pay fees when you file the application.

Step 4: Obtain financing, if necessary. If you apply for a business loan, you need a business plan. This business plan includes specific information on the services you offer, the cost of start up, and charges for the services you offer.
You will present this business plan to the bank or finance company when you apply for the business loan.

Step 5: Purchase or lease your location. If at all possible, try to find a location that was previously used for a cleaning service. If you cannot, you have to hire a contractor to set up shop and make changes. Unless you choose to start a small business. If you have space within your home or garage for your equipment, you could cut a portion of operating expenses. However, if you purchased a franchise you must design the location per their requirements.

Step 6: Hire a crew. Place ads in the local newspaper and/or with employment agencies. You could also list these openings online. Two websites to consider are Monster.com and
CareerBuilder.com.
