How to Unwrinkle a Prom Dress
Prom is one of the most important, fun events in a person's life. In addition, every girl wants to look her best, especially in her dress. However, when you wake up the morning of prom to find your dress wrinkled, it can be devastating. Thankfully there are ways to unwrinkle a prom dress, even one with the most delicate fabrics and details.
- Steam dress your prom dress at home using the shower. Hang your prom dress in a clean bathroom. Make sure the dress is not touching the walls or floor. An ideal place to hang your dress is from the shower rod on a hanger. Close the door and windows tight. Run the shower on hot, the hotter the more effective, until the room fills with a thick steam. Let the dress sit in the room for 30 minutes. The wrinkles should fall out of the dress. Repeat process until the wrinkles are gone.
- Air fluff the dress in the dryer. Place your prom dress in the dry on the setting labeled air fluff. Fluff the dress until wrinkles are gone. For minimum wrinkles, a short air fluff setting will work. For tough wrinkles, you may have to repeat the air fluff cycle a few times.
- Iron the dress. Turn the dress inside out and lay on a flat surface like an ironing board. Set your iron to low and lay a clean, unwrinkled towel over the dress. Iron until wrinkles flatten out.
- Dry clean the dress. Take your dress to your local dry cleaners. Make sure to allow them enough time before your event to unwrinkle your prom dress. This may take a few hours to a few days.
- Use a hand steamer. Purchase or rent a hand steamer and follow the directions on the machine to steam out the dress wrinkles.
