Make Your Own Car Polish
Some people choose to make their own car polish at home instead of purchasing it from an automotive supply store. It is not only less expensive to make it yourself, but it is also a great way to know exactly what is contained in the polish. Making car polish is fairly easy to do and is great way to eliminate the chemicals that are in commercial polishes.
Supplies Needed
- 16 fluid ounces of turpentine
- 1 tablespoon of pine oil
- 2 tablespoons of yellow beeswax
- 8 ounces of Carnauba wax
How to Make Your Own Car Polish
- Combine the yellow beeswax and the Carnauba wax and place the mixture into the top of a double boiler.
- Place the double boiler over a medium heat.
- Continually stir the mixture until both of the waxes are thoroughly combined.
- Set the mixture aside and allow it to cool.
- Add the turpentine and the pine oil to the mixture before it hardens.
- Dip a clean cloth in the homemade car polish and rub it directly onto the surface of the car. This should be done in sections to prevent the wax from drying too quickly.
- Use a clean soft cloth to polish the area where the wax has been applied.
