Looking for the perfect apartment can be somewhat of an adventure in that you never know what you are going to find. Signing a lease based on an impulsive decision can easily place you in an intolerable living situation for six months to a year. That's why knowing the right steps to take is crucial to finding your perfect apartment home.
Shop around
Collect information on every apartment complex in the community or city where you're looking to rent. While this may look like a big list at first, it will decrease in size as you take other factors into consideration.
Filter out apartments in undesirable locations
Your personal safety should be your highest priority when choosing an apartment. Cross off any apartment complex that has a bad reputation in terms of break-ins or stolen vehicles, even if it is in a desirable location. Avoid apartments that are in or near high crime areas in general.
Decide what size you want your apartment to be

You'll want to decide which of the non-essential amenities you would compromise on in favor of a lower rent, or if you have the income and find a fabulous apartment home that meets all your desires, you may have found the place to rent.
