How to Import Rims and Tires
Rims and tires are imported on a daily basis from all over the world. North American car owners often purchase performance-level rims and tires from places such as Europe and Japan, since the quality is somewhat superior, in comparison to what is found locally.
- Navigate to one of the many car parts import sites that are available online. Locate the rims and tires you would like to import. There are various ways to go about choosing the items you wish to import, such as individual packages, or packages with tires and rims together.
- Contact the owner of the car parts import site and ask to have your order shipped in a cargo ship that has an m3 space and that is transported via the sea. On some order forms that you fill out on a car parts importer’s website, you may find a comments section that allows you to enter personal specifications on how you would like your order to be processed. Enter this information in this space and call to get confirmation of receipt.
- Complete the appropriate customs form, in order to be able to bring outside goods into the country. Since importing from overseas is a process that takes a bit of time, expect your rims and tires to arrive in no less than one month after your order is processed.
- Sign off for your goods, once you receive notification that your rims and tires have arrived. Go to your local customs depot and complete the necessary paperwork. Since this is a heavy shipment, the depot often requires you come to pick it up, versus having it sent to your home or place of business.
