How to Outline Business Resources
Business resources need to be outline and organized whenever you are planning for a new business. Doing so will help you to see if you are able to take on different types of projects without overloading your employees. It will also give you a better understanding of what your business can do.
- Look at your employees’ resumes. By reviewing them you will be able to gain a better understanding of their overall skill set. You will also be able to see where their strengths lie and what their weaknesses are. Consider implementing classes if you find a major weakness amongst the majority of your employees.
- Determine if your employees have any skills that are not currently being utilized. For instance, you may find that one of your product managers also has programming experience. This is someone who may be able to take on some of the engineering tasks instead of leaving them all to your company's engineering department.
- Talk to your business’ managers and supervisors in order to determine what level of workload the employees are currently dealing with. If you find that your employees are leaving early because they have a huge amount of downtime, then your employees probably have the capacity to do more work.
- Create a central document in which you outline your business’ resources. This outline should be organized by department. Make sure that you also record criteria for each department (i.e. average salary, average hours that are worked each week, the average scores of any performance appraisals that have been conducted).
