About Moving Trucks
If you plan on moving or need to haul a large load of items, consider renting a moving truck. Moving trucks come in a variety of sizes and can be rented for the day or longer. Moving trucks are cheap to rent and the process is simple.
Sizes
Moving trucks range in size from a regular size pickup to a 26-foot truck. If you don't own a truck, but need to move furniture, you could rent a small moving truck for the day. This would provide enough space to safely haul your furniture to its new destination. However, if you were planning a cross country move and were taking all your belongings with you, it would be wise to opt for the 26-foot truck. If your needs are somewhere in between there are many additional moving truck sizes to accommodate you. When you call to rent a truck, the receptionist will be able to find the right size to meet your needs.
Rates
Renting a moving truck can be economical, depending on how far you will be driving. If you are moving across town it is very cheap. Small trucks start around $20 and larger ones are about $40 per day plus mileage. You are also responsible for returning the vehicle with as much gas as it was given to you with. When you rent a moving truck with a large company you can return the truck to any of their offices. If you began your move in Washington and ended in Utah, you could drop your truck off at the nearest Utah office.
Additional Information
You do not need to possess a commercial driver's license to rent a moving truck, but you must be 18 years of age and carry a valid driver's license. Most trucks only seat three people safely, so if you have a large family you may need to split up and have some members ride in a car. If you plan on renting a moving truck it is wise to call ahead and make a reservation.
