How to Get a Real Estate Property Manager's License

A real estate property manager’s license will allow you to manage real estate property owned by other people. This field is becoming more and more popular as people want to get in to the world of investing without dealing with the hassles of actually managing the property.


 

Getting your real estate property manager’s license is one that can give you a lot of options in your career. This field has a lot of earning potential if you are able to understand it and do well at it. Each state will have different requirements on what needs to be done to successfully get your license.



  1. Go through the management course that your state requires. Each state is different and will require different courses that may take more time than others.

  2. Submit the necessary information to get your criminal background check underway. There will be a processing fee that you should prepare for. Not all states will require this but most will need you to go through it.

  3. Figure out what type of coursework you should look into. There are a lot of different practices that you can choose from. Some states will require you to go through them before you are able to obtain your license. Each state will have a different amount of hours for you to complete before you can qualify.

  4. Take your real estate property management exam once you have finished your other requirements. Just about any state you are in will require you to make at least 75% on the exam to pass. Once you have passed, you will need to get your errors and omissions insurance.

  5. Check with your state to see if you will need to get your broker’s license. Most state will require you to obtain this license before you can move forth.
