How to Sell Real Estate by Owner

If you have some real estate that you wish to sell, there is not a set rule that you have to sell it through a real estate agent. You can take the property to market yourself and sell it if you go about it the correct way. Selling real estate on your own is not that difficult and only requires that you follow a few simple guidelines.

1. Set a price for the piece of real estate that you wish to sell. You will need to come up with your asking price and a price that is the lowest you will accept for the property. The low price is kept to yourself. Do not allow anyone else to know the lowest price you will accept. You want a person to buy at as close to the asking price as possible.

2. Make sure that the property is clean and presentable for sale. The better the property looks, the more enthusiastic people will be to buy it. If you are selling a home, clean up the inside and the outside. Make sure the yard is clean. A nice image goes a long way when it comes to selling real estate.

3. Start to advertise your property. Put a “for sale” sign in the front yard, if it is possible. Leave a contact number on the sign so that people who are interested in the property can easily contact you. Advertise your property in your local paper. Make sure to include your asking price but do not include the lowest price you will accept. Do not appear too desperate to sell. Advertise the property with online classifieds. It is possible to reach millions of people with online classifieds.

4. Set up meetings with potential buyers to show the real estate. Always show up on time and be friendly. Answer any questions that they may have.

5. Sell the house to the buyer that makes the best offer for the property. Fill out the appropriate paperwork with the buyer and complete the sale.
