Ford Company has been around for over eight decades and has been responsible for many innovations in the automotive industry over that span of time. The company, founded by Henry Ford, has some of the famous vehicles ever made under their company name.

History:



  • Ford Motor Company was founded by Henry Ford on June 16, 1903.

  • The Ford Motor Company is credited for the invention of the assembly line.

  • The Ford Motor Company bought Lincoln Motors in 1925.


Famous Ford Cars:



  • The original Model A, the first car that Ford Motor Company produced, was produced from 1903-1904. There is a later Model A introduced by Ford in 1927, which was not produced until 1931.

  • Ford's Thunderbird debuted in 1955 and continued production until 1997. It was redesigned and returned in 2002, but only lasted three years.

  • Ford Fairlane, also introduced in 1955, continued production until 1970. An early Fairlane commercial is famous for being the first time that the "Peanuts" characters appeared in animated form.

  • The Mustang debuted in 1964 and is one of the most famous of the "muscle cars," known for their sporty style and power under the hood.

  • The Ford Bronco, introduced in 1966, was Ford's early sports utility vehicle. It continued production until 1996, gaining notoriety in the O.J. Simpson slow-speed chase leading up to his arrest.

  • Ford's Pinto, introduced in 1971, was an early sub-compact vehicle.

  • Ford Taurus, which debuted in 1986, was a best seller in America for several years.
