How to Repair Sterling Faucets
Sterling Faucets are an excellent purchase because of their limited lifetime warranty. Should you have issues with your Sterling you'll first need to determine if it qualifies for a free replacement. However, if it doesn't, most problems can be repaired by replacing the stem, which can be done in a few short and simple steps.
What You'll Need:
- Allen wrench
- Screwdriver
- Pliers
- New stem
To Remove the Stem
- To begin turn off the shutoff valve that leads to the faucet under the sink.
- Take the faucet handle off so that you can access the old broken stem. Remove the decorative cap that houses the screw. For single-handle faucets, use an Allen wrench to unscrew the screw located at the base of the handle. For double-handle faucets, use a screwdriver to remove the screw located at the top of the faucet.
- Locate the screw that holds the stem in place and remove it. Depending on the model of your Sterling faucet there may or may not be a screw.
- Take out the old stem by using a pair of pliers.
To Install the Stem
- Install the new stem onto the body of the faucet by pushing it securely into place.
- Reinstall the screw that holds the stem in place. Like before, depending on the model of your Sterling faucet there may or may not be a screw present.
- Put the handle back onto the faucet and ensure that it is tightly screwed in place.
- Turn the shutoff valve back on. Turn on the faucet to ensure that both the "Hot and "Cold" functions are both working properly and have the correct water flow to complete this project.
