How to Find House Painters

About House Painters

Choosing a new color for your walls or the exterior of your home is important to the life and equity of your investment. Finding a painter isn’t difficult but knowing what to expect, when you do make your decision, can save you a great deal of money or can decide if the job will be done now or in the next 6 months.

About House Painters

A coat of paint makes a home feel fresh and brings new life to old furnishings and decor. Unless you have recently priced a gallon of paint or have some idea what will have to be done to your walls before they can be painted, you might have trouble finding what you consider a fair price for the job. In addition, hiring a painter is only part of the problem; you still have to choose the paint that you want on your walls for the next five to 10-years. So, you need to decide on the paint first, and the painter second.

Choosing Paint Colors

The last 5-years have seen a trend in light tans and darker beiges for a reason. Many times a home will need to be painted more often than furnishings will have to be replaced. It’s better to choose a color that won’t end with a trend, and will be durable and attractive for years to come. While most people hate a white wall that was the trend for many years, because “white” goes with any color. Avoid choosing dark or bright colors as they will lose their appeal and can fade with time.

The Interior Painter

There are variables such as the physical condition of the wall and peeling paint, or worse paints that continue to fade through the new coat of paint. These things can alter the estimate of painting our walls. Because of the pigments in paints like red and black, the painter will have to use a primer and that will be an added expense. If there are cracks and holes that cannot be repaired, then the piece of sheetrock will have to be replaced. Make sure that the painter does a thorough inspection and quotes a price based on wall repairs and painting. The cost can be as much as $2000 for 12 by 15 square feet.

The Exterior Painter

Apply the same logic to exterior colors as you have for interior paint. Be sure to check with the HOA (if you’re a member) before painting your home to be certain the choice meets their rules. The exterior painter should quote a price based on repair, if necessary, and cleaning or prep-work before the painting is to be done. The price should include base coat and trim. Cost can be between $1500 and $3,000 depending upon the size of the home.
