Paint Color Ideas for a Home Theater Room

Your home theater is a place for meeting and entertaining. People put a lot of thought into their home theater room including addind details like a popcorn machine, ticket booth and theater style lighting. The wall paint will be the element that brings all the hard work in planning the home theater room together.

Traditional Theater Colors

Start by considering traditional theater colors of black and red. The black was to help make the room as dark as possible and the red gave the theater a look of luxury. While painting the walls black can be a bad choice as it will make the room appear small, you could paint an accent wall deep red and then add black accents throughout the room. You could also add black curtians to compliment the red and to effectively block sunlight.

The Modern Theater

Modern theaters use earth tones, deep blues and luxurious wood accents to bring a special atmosphere to the movies. Paint an accent wall deep blue and add dark wood molding to the ceiling and the center of the wall. This will create the illusion of length, giving your home theater a spacious feel.

Match Existing Pieces

You have put a lot of thought and effort into picking out the interior elements of your home theater room. Match paint colors with the color of your seats, snack bar area and lighting fixtures. Dark colors will make your room seem smaller but can also help the room become darker for optimum movie viewing. Light colors will expand the look of the room but may be seen in the dark.
