How to Apply for a Department of Education Job

If you want to get a job with the Department of Education, there are certain steps you have to take. You can apply for a job online, and this is the easiest and most convenient way. You need to have your resume ready, as you will have to submit it to them. You can learn how to apply for a Department of Education job in a few minutes.


 


  1. Open your favorite web browser, such as Firefox or Internet Explorer. Type ed.gov/about/jobs/open/edhires in the address bar at the top. Make sure you put “www” in front of the web address.

  2. Click the “Job Openings” link on the left side of the page, and then click the “How to Apply” link on the right side of the page.

  3. Follow the directions on the page. Click the “usajobs” link and register with the site. Click the “Create Account Now” button and fill out the appropriate fields with your information. Click the “Submit” button when you are finished.  The resume builder will open on your screen.

  4. Click the “Get Started” tab at the top. Complete the “Getting Started,” “Experience,” “Related Information,” and “Finishing Up” tabs.

  5. Log into your USAJOBS account and click “Search Jobs.” Enter your search criteria and then click “Search Jobs” again at the bottom of the page. Click the job title of any job you are interested in.  If you are interested in the job, click the “Apply For This Position Now” button. You will be taken to Edhires website to fill out some more information and to apply for the job. The resume that you built in the first step will be sent to them along with the other information that you fill out.
