How to Replace Kenmore Dryer Parts
Like all appliances, Kenmore dryers need regular servicing and replacement of parts that wear out due to frequent use. Replacement parts for dryers are readily available in Sears stores around the country. The dryer belt is a part that often requires replacement.
Materials
- Kenmore Dryer belt
- Screwdriver
- Pencil and paper
- Wooden Block
Instructions
- Inspect the dryer to find the part model or part number.
- Visit the Kenmore website and enter the model or part number that you need. You can purchase online using your credit card or visit a Sears store.
- Unplug the dryer from the power source before servicing.
- Remove screws attaching the lint screen and set the screen to the side.
- Locate the metal clips that secure the top panel and release them using the flat head screwdriver. Lift off the panel.
- Release the clips securing the top panel and remove it. Loosen the bottom screws on the front of the panel, and then remove the top screws. Place a wooden block or object under the drum to support it. Tip the front panel forward to access the drum and remove the old belt. Leave it on the motor pulleys.
- Slip the new belt over the drum then replace the dryer's top and bottom panel screws. Remove the support object under the drum.
- Remove the old belt from the motor pulleys and replace it with the new one. Lift the pulley in order to slip the belt around it and then release it.
- Spin the dryer using your hand to make sure the belt is positioned.
- Replace all the parts and reassemble the dryer.
