Associate's degrees are most effective when students satisfy part of their course requirements with internships. These internships can often lead to full time employment after the degree has been earned. No accredited online degree program is able to guarantee students an internship.
Bachelor's Degree
Bachelor's degrees require four years of intensive study. However, some online programs offer students an accelerated degree path. These degrees can be earned in three years. A bachelor's degree in computer science is generally the prerequisite for most full time positions. When selecting a distance learning degree program, it is important to ensure that the courses will cover the same material as traditional programs.
Master's Degrees
A master's degree is required for most high level positions in computer science. Fortunately, these degrees can be earned through online distance education colleges. Typically, these courses will cover material pertaining to networking and cyber security. These are the two most commonly recruited positions for major companies, and a degree from an accredited institution can dramatically increase a student's chance for attaining one of these positions.
