Requirements for Telecommunication Schools

Undergraduate Requirements

Typically, a student applying to an undergraduate program declares a major on the university application form. Requirements are generally limited to those necessary for gaining admission into the university. A solid high school academic record, application essay and satisfactory SAT scores are the general requirements.

Master's Degree Requirements

Master's degree programs in telecommunication require a minimum of a 3.0 GPA in undergraduate work. In addition to official transcripts from all educational institutions, telecommunication schools request a statement of purpose that explains the prospective student's intent in applying to the program. While many schools require a minimum score on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE), some schools accept a portfolio of creative projects as a demonstration of talent in telecommunications.

Ph.D. Requirements

For advanced degrees in telecommunication, programs expect a high level of performance on the master's degree curriculum. In addition to background information and a statement of purpose, schools may require letters of recommendation, a writing sample and/or a portfolio of past media projects.
