How to Decorate Studio Apartments

Since studio apartments only consist of one room, decorating without making the room appear cluttered can be difficult.  Luckily, there are several things that you can do to create a living space that is unique and true to your personality without taking up too much space.

Items Needed

  • Storage baskets

  • Bookshelf

  • Rugs

  • Furniture

  • Mirrors

Decorating

  • Get rid of items that you do not need or use anymore.  Since you are dealing with a small space, it can become cluttered very easily.  If you need to hold on to certain things, try placing them in baskets and putting them on a shelf in your closet.

  • Create more space in your studio apartment by using furniture that serves more than one purpose.  For extra storage, try finding an old trunk to serve as your coffee table, or a storage ottoman to use with a chair.

  • Create privacy by using paper screens or a large bookshelf to close off a section of the room.  You can also use the bookshelf to hold all of your movies, books and any neat decorations that you would like to display in your studio apartment.

  • Make the room appear larger by hanging a few mirrors on the walls.  Mirrors reflect light, creating the illusion of more space.

  • Try adding lighting to the room with wall-mounted lamps or wall sconces.  This will give you more light without taking up any floor space.

  • Create separate living room, dining and bedroom areas by using different rugs in the room.  For the dining area, try placing a small bistro set in the corner of the room.

  • Add a few pieces of unique artwork to the wall.

  • Add personal touches, such as a vase of fresh flowers or pretty candles on the coffee table.
