Dance camp is a fun activity that keeps your child busy throughout the summer. If you are planning to enroll your kid in dance camp, whether he or she is a toddler, an elementary student or a teen, there are a few things to know first.
General Information
A summer dance camp provides children with dance classes and activities throughout the summer, when they are out of school. Classes may run for a duration of a week or two, and require the parents to pick up the children each day. On the contrary, other camps host overnight camps that vary in length, based on the camp itself. Prices range from a few dollars a day to thousands of dollars for some overnight camps.
Greendale Dance Academy
Worcester, MA is home to Greendale Dance Academy, which offers a dance camp experience for children of ages 18 months to 14 years. Children in the toddler age bracket learn movement through tools, such as ribbons and hoops. Older children have the ability to learn specific genres of dance including ballet and tap. The camp places campers in one of five groups based on ability and age.
Endless Mountains Dance Camp
Located in the northeastern PA is Endless Mountain Dance Camp. More specifically, you can find the camp in the city of Camptown. Children ages eight through 16 learn about jazz and ballet throughout the two-week long session of camp. As of November 2011, prices vary between $600 to $1000 per week for boys and girls who attend the program.
Brant Lake Dance Camp
You have the chance to enroll your female child who is between the ages of nine to 16, in Brant Lake Dance Camp, located in Brant Lake, NY, for three and a half weeks, five weeks or seven weeks. Tennis and canoeing are optional activities offered by the program that children may partake in, in addition to the one to five hours’ worth of dance classes each day. Your child has the decision to take hip-hop, jazz, ballet or tap each day.
