What are the Different Levels of IT Certification?

The Benefits of IT Certification

The IT field continually changes and as a result, the qualifications to gain many of the better paying jobs requires IT certifications. Many times companies require prospective employees to have more than one certification in order to be considered for employment.

Types of Microsoft IT Certifications

Microsoft and networking IT certifications are the most popular since a good majority of companies use Microsoft products and all using networking. Therefore, there are several certifications that can be taken but some of the most popular are the MCP or Microsoft Certified Professional, MCSE or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, and MCSA or the Microsoft Certified Systems Administration, to name a few.

Networking certifications include the popular Cisco such as Cisco Networking Devices, Cisco Certified Networking, and Cisco Certified Wireless Networking, plus several others. A combination of certifications in both Microsoft and Cisco can mean not only landing a job, but can mean making a lot more money than someone that has no certifications.

Benefits of IT Certifications

Those that have one or more IT certifications often weather the ups and downs of the IT industry because of its constant changing nature. Having the necessary skills that are needed give you a definite edge over your competition when it comes to finding new work. Employers that are hiring new people will always look for those that have the certifications they need to be successful in their company.

The IT certifications are not easy to pass, which is why they are highly rewarded for those that do have them. Most have to study a few months before they attempt the comprehensive exam, which is also not a free exam. Some pass it on the first try and others take a two or three cracks at it before they are successful.
