How to Write a Lead Generation Flyer

Flyers can help you generate business leads by getting the word out to potential customers about your products. Once you create your flyers you can distribute them through the mail, place them on cars and even walk around to hand them out to home owners. You'll want to bring together the elements of design, eye-catching content and “call to actions” to increase sales for your business.

  1. Lead your customer's eyes onto your flyer by placing an attention grabbing headline near the top of the page. Examples of this type of headline include “Save on Your Next Getaway,” “Get Rid of Problematic Pests in Your Home Once and For All” and “Lose the Post Pregnancy Weight Quickly and Safely.”

  2. Incorporate a strategic image into your flyer for the purposes of appealing to your potential customer's visual sense. Multiple libraries exist on the Internet where you can either purchase or use free, high-quality photos for advertisement purposes. Place the picture somewhere on the top half of the page to grab your reader's attention and keep it there. Know that one large image commands more attention than several smaller ones sprinkled throughout the flyer. Group your smaller photos together to create a sense of unity on the advertisement page.

  3. Capture the attention of your potential customers by using a persuasive writing style. Persuasive writing nudges the reader to act on something such as purchasing your product. Start with phrases such as “act now” and “for a limited time only,” or “free to the first 100 callers” to increase the chances of keeping your customer's attention on the page.

  4. Write your content using second tense speech because the person reading the flyer starts to think the message is aimed directly at him or her. Customers don't want to hear about what you or the company wants; they want to know more about what's in it for them. Explain in short sentences what they're going to get from your business.

  5. Add in some content with what Internet marketers refer to as a “call to action.” A call to action works when the seller gets their customer to act in a certain manner from what they were previously engaged in; you want to switch their focus onto your product enough to drive them to act immediately to find out more information. Achieve this by using phrases such as “call now,” “contact us” and “act now” as methods to get people to act in the present for the purposes of purchasing your product.
