How to Install a System Speaker Driver

If you are having problems with the sound on your computer, you will need to install the system speaker driver. You can do so through the device manager in Windows 7 and it will only take you a few minutes. The program will install and update any new speaker drivers that it can find for your computer.

1.Turn on your computer and log in as an administrator. Click the “Start” button in the lower left corner of your screen and click “Control Panel.” The Control Panel window opens on your screen.

2.Click “System and Security,” and then click “Device Manager” under System. The Device Manager window opens on your screen. You may be prompted to enter in your administrator password. If so, enter the password to continue installing the system speaker driver.

3.Double-click “Sound, video and game controllers” to expand the menu. Find the device name in the list and double-click it.

4.Click the “Driver” tab at the top, and then click the “Update Driver” button to install and update any drivers found for your system speaker. Follow the onscreen instructions to install the system speaker driver. When it is finished, you will be returned back to this screen.

5.Click the “Start” button, click the arrow to the right of “Shutdown” and then click “Restart” to restart your computer.

6.Check that the sound is working properly on your computer. Insert a music CD into your CD drive, or navigate to a video that you can watch. Adjust the sound on your speakers. The system speaker driver should be installed and working properly.
