How to Install Wall Mount Flat Screen Televisions
Mounting a TV in the home turns any room into an area for entertainment. A mounted TV helps to clear up space that would not be available if the television was on a stand. Mounting a TV can be done in less than a few hours and is an easy task to do at home.
- Remove the stand from the bottom of the television if there is one.
- Determine where you will mount your television. Choose a spot that will have no glare and good visibility throughout various parts of the room. One of the best places to mount the TV in the center of the wall that has the best visibility. You also want to make sure your flat screen is mounted at a location that s close to an electrical outlet.
- Find the mounting holes on the back of the TV. Using the bolts in the mounting kit attach the mounting arms to the mounting holes. Make sure you don't over tighten the bolts. Make sure the arms are level with each other.
- Locate the studs that will support your television by using a stud finder. Use a nail to confirm the stud’s location.
- Verify the mounting holes in the bracket line up with the center of the studs.
- Attach the bracket plate to the wall. Use a level to make sure the brackets are at even height before mounting the TV.
- Connect your cables to the TV. Make sure that the TV and all cables are unplugged to the electrical source. If you are running your cables inside the wall drill a pilot hole and check to make sure the area is clear. If you are not running cables behind the wall, consider getting a cable raceway to keep cables neat. Do not bundle cables together.
- Lock the mounting arms on the back of the TV to the wall brackets. Have another person assist you in locking the arms and brackets together.
- Check and make sure every connection point is locked down securely. You can test this by giving a few light tugs
- Adjust the TV is there are any problems and check to make sure there are no connection problems.
