Many hostels such as our have private rooms which are comparable to hotel rooms, with the added benefit that most services like wi-fi, breakfast, long distance calls etc. are included. Also, if you're traveling by bus, a lot of times you can meet people who have a car and are going to the same destination next so you can get a ride for cheap and more comfort that way. It's also a great way to make lifetime friends. So if there indeed is a 'hassle' somewhere, yeah, it'd be worth it!

There really isn't any hassle to staying at a hostel. They're typically found in Europe, not in the United Staes, and are intended for young travelers back-packing or biking, needing a place to stay overnight. They are generally suppervised by adults equipped to provide guidence as well as shelter, and are an inexpensive form of lodging.

There actually are many wonderful hostels in California. I have met many visiting europeans & asians that use hostels. Just not very private, but they are an affordable alternative...Answered by ruthscris (Novice with 1 pts.)
