Absolutely. Depending upon your skills and your level of involvement, it can be very commendable on one's resume. Additionally, the references you get are unmatched.
On a final note, during the course of your affiliaton you may develop long term connections that may come in handy down the road - sometimes leading to permanent positions.

I have done several jobs, donating my labor to NON PROFITS. I have found that not only is this a great thing to do, it has brought me several referrals that I never would have gotten had I not.Answered by Former Member Minneapolis / St Paul and surrounding Communities, Minneapolis , MN, 55407, 651-491-7626 (Guru with 1795 pts.)

Try looking thru CharityGuide (I've listed the link for Illinois - my state, I'm sure you can find other state/city opportunities). Its at least one place to check. Good luck.

Sometimes. Depends on the organization. One has to be careful as many non-profits want you to give everything for free. You always should give something back but when times are tough, a little give and take is required.Answered by YaDaChef (Mentor with 269 pts.)
