Social networking is the key to getting your name and your company out to the public. It sells my listings quicker and is a great way to share knowledge with others. Through the internet I have connected with others from different countries and made amazing business contacts. It has made a huge difference in my business and one of the many sources I use for exposure.

Absolutely worth it. Social Media has grown in the past few years, and has helped my company substantially, as well as target a specific demographic of customers. If you want high visibility, unique visitor-ship, and increase in sales, definitely choose from the top 10 SM sites:
    LinkedIn
    Facebook
    Twitter
    Youtube
    Tumblr
    Technorati
    Reddit
    StumbleUpon
    Pinterest
    Digg

I think there are a few factors regarding weather or not you business will benefit from Social Media. First, What type of business is it? I find local small businesses like bakery's and eateries do well with enticing people in the door with their delicious food pictures being posted to loyal followers on Facebook and Twitter. Try the same thing as a mechanic or an online re-seller (like us) and you'll see far less support. We sell Las Vegas show and attraction tickets and we post to Twitter and Facebook regularly with paltry results. Even when it comes to the free ticket giveaway contest we're doing currently, people just don't seem to use FB or Twitter to connect with external links. This luke-warm response doesn't mean it's a waste of time, at least that's what I keep telling myself. Other factors include: Physical location vs. online only, The product - is there an inexpensive sampling that allows us to experience what your business is about, etc.

I think it depends on your business and your niche market. If your target market does not utilize social media, then it may not be as beneficial. However, if your market is heavily online, has smart phones, etc., then you would be missing out to not have a presence.

  5. Borchers Drywall
    Christine:
I believe it all depends on what you are selling or offering. My business is drywall finishing (construction) so social networking works for me as far as word of mouth references. As far as twitter or things like that i don't do these things, but having a Facebook page for your business is a good tool to utilize for getting the word out and posting pictures of your work and so forth. Have a great day and God Bless from the crew at Borchers Drywall.

Anykind of advertising is worth a shot! I do believe in social networking so long you have a big enough database of people that will see your attempts! Not everyone uses the same networking sites so you kinda have to feel around and give each thing you try a chance!

Yes! Social media is vital to a business. Every business wants and needs business to survive/thrive. Likewise a business wants to be found and set themselves apart from a competitor. As our world changes, so does our marketing. Social media is a way of presenting yourself to a very select market as well as the world all in a few clicks of the keyboard. It's an exciting way to share your business and meet new people. My listings alone such as Merchant Circle bring callers to me that I would otherwise never know, meet or have an opportunity to do business with. The time spent creating your profiles and marketing them are well worth your time and effort. It is also a very affordable option to have experts in this industry do it for you @BethsBYTE
I love social media and all that is available for me to market my handbag business for FREE! Social media is budget friendly and effective.

  8. Teachers Insurance Specialists - Horace Mann
I have found that it is beneficial to my business. I am a licensed insurance agent in the state of Florida, and I use Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and I have a blog. I would say that Facebook is great for offering a behind the scenes look at an organization, and makes it more personable for the client. Also, having a blog has allowed me to connect with clients on a different level. It gives me an arena to offer additional tips, address concerns, and give them high impact nuggets of information that I may not be able to otherwise. Do you have questions about blogging or insurance? Feel free to give me a call at 407.622.6634, email me at simone.baldwin@horacemann.com. Or check out my blog at Teacher’s Insurance Specialists is an insurance agency in Florida that specializes in providing comprehensive insurance coverage.
