I'm 18 - I need a way to get a loan, but I can't with a bank because I don't have any credit established & my parents won't cosign for me. So besides the obvious "establish a credit history first", I just want to know if I can get a student loan even if I'm already getting financial aid.

I have no idea what I'm doing, I'm trying to get into a university. I recently withdrew from a local technical program due to the lack of competence of one of the instructors. When I first started at the Technical School I had little knowledge about financial aid and student loans, this time I want to be fully prepared. Can someone explain to me how financial aid and student loans work? I have filled out a fafsa, and have to change my school code for the new school I'll be attending. Also, what else should I be doing to get more money for my education?

OK- I am starting community college September 2010. My friend did student loans for school and financial aide for living costs etc. Should I do the same thing? Student loans intimidate me.

Okay i have FFEL Unsubsidized loans. Now when they say you have ten years to repay them do they mean from the date you obtained the loan or from the date you start repaying them?

I want to go back to school and I haven't been in school in about 12 years. The creditor who's handling the student loans account I have is trying to give me a hard time about paying the loans back. They want me to pay them $400/month but right now I'm on a fixed income and my mother, who's my power of attorney, tried to get into a rehabilitation program with them, but they still tried to give us a hard time. Right now I can't afford that because I'm on a fixed income. What should I do? Please let me know-I'm open to suggestions. Thank you.
