A video is going to be better for SEO, but depending on the size of the video, it will or can cause your website to load slower. One all my clients websites I use Javascript rotating image file. This allows me to make the images clickable, I can put a description for clients to read also.

If a picture is worth 1,000 words, a video is worth $1,000. If the first contact that a prospect has with you is by clicking onto your website, they don't know who you are, they don't know what you have done and they don't know your reputation. They aren't going to read through your 20 page website to find out what your business is all about. Therefore, a 60-second "Elevator Pitch" video is the best way to introduce yourself, as well as giving them a reason to doing business with you. The worst thing you can do is waste the valuable real estate at the top of your homepage by displaying a bunch of nebulous images which produces nothing of value in the mind of the prospect.

Both of them can work equally well and it would depend on what content you are presenting. One note of caution however; don't have your video play automatically. That should be left to your guest.

For each of them the importance is how you handle the descriptions. Ask yourself what someone who is not part of you industry would use as search terms to find that content. The results will be the little bits of information a search engine would pick up on to aid in getting people to your page and are the words you will want to use. For video use them as part of the title and in the short description telling potential viewers what they can expect. If you have access to the meta data for that page or you are working with a developer add the information to your header. If you can, also post it on any additional channels you use for social media, such as YouTube, with a link back to you.

For images it is a similar process. Use keyword as part of the name for the image (joesTacos.jpg). Always add the alt text which is there for people who have images turned off and, if your software also has an additional field for a title use that space in the same way.

So, the key :-) is to use user friendly keywords and, whenever you are able to give additional information, don't pass up the opportunity. One final note though; remember people are reading your titles and descriptions and in the end you want information that will engage them in your content even at the cost of a keyword or two.

No question a video. Search engines visit video sites every few minutes, so your video appears in Google,Yahoo and Bing in just minutes after you submit, not days or weeks. Create your business channels and be sure to use your keywords in the title and description of your videos.

Actually you should do both video and photos on your website as they will help with rankings on the search engines.
Be sure to tag the videos and alt tag the photos with keywords relevant to your business. Also add the photo and video to your Google Places page and your Social Media sites, such as Facebook, and You Tube.

An XML Flash Photo Gallery is a great way to create a photo slide show while simultaneously benefiting from each photo's title and description being picked up by Google, Yahoo!, Bing and other search engines. Include the XML file's URL in your website's sitemap and with a proactive submission regimen your photo gallery can become a powerful search engine tool. I have included a link to some really beautiful XML Flash Photo Galleries for you.

Search Engines cannot see Videos. It would be important to have the rest of the page with the video setup properly. For instance, you can embed a video into a blog post. The search engines only see the title of the post. It is important to add text to the page of the video so the search engines can see it.

Another consideration is this.....statistics show that with a text only page visitors will stay 3 seconds....and then determine if your site is worth staying. If they stay, on average they will be there for 3 minutes. With video on a home page, the visitor will stay and watch the video from beginning to end...even if it is a bad video. My advice, put a video on your home page and then make sure the rest of the page has some SEO text and formatting. Remember, if you get a ton of traffic and very few new leads....this could mean you need a better conversion system. Video is an excellent way to convert....be sure to create a call to action at the end of your video.

Either, as long as you get the text parts right. Search engine bots can't see what is in the video or the photo so you need to make sure your ALT text is optimized. If you are hosting your video on a site like You Tube make sure the tags of the video include your key words. TOP TIP: On You Tube, create a text file with the script of the video and upload it as closed captions. Hearing impaired people will be able to follow your message and search engines will be able to pick up on the key words in your video :)

You should never rely on single elements to boost your seo. Seo is a plan that needs to be constructed as a whole. If done correctly and planned correctly you have have a 1 page site that will dominate.

I would myself recommend a slideshow and a video, have the 2 versions on 2 diff pages (lo fi, hi fi type thing). Make sure on the images you use every alt tag effectively.

Video is the best way. You can get your video ranked by placing it on many video sharing sites and linking back to your page. Plus you can put up a video site map which can also get ranked. Most webmasters don't know how to do this. But you can get yourself listed over time in several positions on page one with this strategy.
