Is there different Sheena and what is the difference? Latex
Also known as water-based paint, latex paints have several benefits. They have little to no odor, and are easy to clean using soap and water. It does not adhere well when used over surfaces that have previously been painted with a gloss finish. If thinning is necessary, use water as opposed to paint thinner.
Oil
This is an oil-based paint that easily adheres to most surfaces even when used over other types of paint. It requires strong ventilation due to the strong odor and is slow to dry. If thinning is required, turpentine or paint thinner is necessary.
Flat
Flat paints have very little to no sheen. They are generally good for surfaces that are marred by dents and other imperfections. Walls that are painted with flat paint are more difficult to clean than those that have more shine. Because of this they are best in areas where the risk of staining or soiling is minimum, such as closets or ceilings.
Eggshell Paint
This type of paint finish washable and has only a slight amount of sheen, although greater than flat paint. Because it does have some sheen, surface imperfections will be more noticable than they would be with flat paint. Use eggshell paint in laundry rooms, bathrooms, in the kitchen and on trim work.
Satin
Satin paints are similar to eggshell paints, however they are slightly more light-reflective. It is recommended for trims such as those made of wood. This type of paint is also suitable for kitchen nooks, children's bedrooms and powder rooms.
Semi-Gloss
Semi-gloss paints have a glossy, light reflective sheen. They are washable but reveal any surface imperfections. Semi-gloss works well in bathrooms and kitchens, on trim work and on cabinets.
High Gloss
This type of paint is highly durable and glossy. It is washable, but is not suitable for walls that are flawed, as any imperfections will show readily. High gloss paints offer the maximum amount of light reflection.
