Looking to Join Scentsy Candle Business Opportunity?

Before you join Scentsy, this is my non-biased review of Scentsy's business opportunity. I'm not a consultant for the company. As a product innovation, it's obvious based on Scentsy's explosive growth that their "wickless candle" concept was a big hit. And it came along at a time when no other direct sales company was offering this "wickless candle" option. Scentsy officially launched and opened its doors to consultants in 2004 and since then, has done big things, and there's no sign of the company slowing down. For those early consultants that joined the candle company at the groundfloor phase, wow, what great timing. It's the holy grail in direct sales: to partner with a promising company from the beginning. Unfortunately, most new companies don't make it for many reasons I can't get into in this post, but with such a small investment to join most direct sales company, it's worth the initial investment when you see a company with potential. The trick is to find that one company that offers a truly unique product that no other company offers and start your business at the right time. And if you're like me who happens to love candles, I might have joined Scentsy at the groundfloor phase if I had known about it, but I didn't. The good news is that new companies launch frequently and I'm always on the look out for the next big thing in candles. The reason why I emphasize the next big thing is that you need a unique product and partner with an innovative company that can compete or outshine the competition. If it's just another soy candle company or another wickless candle, there are already a lot of those products on the market. You can even buy wickless candles at Wal-Mart. This doesn't mean the candle business is saturated but I wouldn't join just any candle company unless it has the potential to be the next big thing. Of course, this isn't a sure bet either, even if the company shows all the promises at the start. There are always inherent risks in any entrepreneurial endeavor and many factors that could make or  break a business. But finding a company with an innovative and unique product position is key to your success and building it big, if you position yourself at the groundfloor phase. I'm not suggesting you shouldn't join Scentsy. There are benefits to partnering with an established company - think Mary Kay, Avon, Arbonne, but there are also millions of consultants you're competing with - both in the US and overseas. If you're consultant number 12 in your neighborhood selling the same product with the same company, the pie is a lot smaller. That said, there's plenty of business to go around, but I would rather be at the forefront of a company, be an early adopter, rather than start with a company with hundreds and thousands of consultants. What does this mean for you? Ultimately, it's up to you to decide what's right for you If you prefer safety, perhaps going with an established company is a better option for you. If you're a big picture kind of person and want to look beyond, years ahead when the company can be as big as Scentsy, or Avon, there's a new candle company that will knock your socks off. It's going to be huge! It has 2 patent-pending products that no one has on the market, not even big retailers, and it has all the promises to be the next big thing in a direct sales candle opportunity.
