RMS Real Estate

Here at RMS Real Estate we pride ourselves in providing a warm, family oriented atmosphere with professionalism, and the know how to get things done right.  We believe that this is why we have such a low percentage of expired or canceled listings.  We will help you to decide on what is a fair value for your real estate needs and not just appeal to your greed to get the listing.  We do this by providing a Comparative Market Analysis (CMA) at no cost to the seller.  A CMA provides comparable data on recent sales and adjusts it to be even more comparable to your home or property.  There will always be someone available to answer your questions with in a timely manner.  You can talk with John, Roy, or Ardie and any one of us would be happy to help you.  We live in a county where the motto is "Where the West Still Lives"  This is very true in our little corner of the state where there is still large ranches and farms all around.  Our population has stayed relatively the same over the past 100 years.  We live in a community where almost everyone knows you by name.  Come and see our neck of the woods where we will welcome you and show you the perks of a peaceful, relaxing, rural type community.

Septic Systems in California

We had a septic meeting on Thursday to help inform the public about how AB 885 will effect Modoc County.  I organized the meeting and passed out fliers and ran an add in the Modoc Record.  We talked about the devistating effects this law will have on our county. Warren talked about the details of the law and how the process works.  We discussed ways to fight this bill.  Since then I have been asked to form a political action committee.  I'm not sure I want to do that yet because I think that it is an issue that doesn't necessarily have a party line in Modoc County.  Feb 9 is getting closer so make sure you get your letters mailed off to show your complaints about this law.  Although I got the feeling that the people from the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) don't really care.  I recommend that everyone with an e-mail start writing Tod Thompson the director of the SWRCB and let him know how upset you are about this draft Evironmental Impact Report his team has proposed. Here is a letter from Senator Dave Cox conserning the matter please not the link to the draft Environmental Impact Report: Dear MS. Anders:      This is in response to your inquiry regarding the recently proposed regulations on septic tanks. I appreciate hearing from you.    The State Water Resources Control Board is currently considering regulations based on Assembly Bill 885 (Jackson, D- Santa Barbara) that the Legislature passed in the year 2000 requiring the regulation of septic tanks.  I voted against this bill when I was in the Assembly.    The rules will not take effect untilif they are adopted later this year.  There are many hearings and workshops scheduled on this subject over the next few months.  You can find a schedule of these hearings and workshops on the Internet at: http://www.waterboards.ca.gov/water_issues/programs/septic_tanks/docs/ab885/deir_interested_parties_inclosures.pdf   You can see the proposed regulations for yourself at:http://www.waterboards.ca.gov/water_issues/programs/septic_tanks/   These regulations are very comprehensive and I encourage everyone who may be affected by them to become involved and make themselves heard.  The Water Board is required to adopt these regulations according to the law that was adopted in the year 2000.  There will eventually be regulations on septic tanks, the only question now is what those regulations will look like. That is now up to the State Water Resources Control Board.              Thank you for informing me of your views on this issue. If you have questions or comments regarding this or any other matter relating to state government, please feel free to contact me again.                                                              Sincerely,                                                                                                                              Senator, First District Joining this battle is just one way your local real estate agent has decided to work for you.  I hope this shows the committment that I have for this comunity and to you. Thanks for reading, John D. Callaghan
