One way is to use the services of the photography industries trade organization, the Professional Photographers of America, at .
"PPA" is the organization that most of the best people photograhers belong to. They offer continuing education and contests to hone the the photographers skills, and other resources to back up photographers.

Hi,
You can find a great wedding photographer by asking for referrals from people in the wedding industry like my company. I come across photographers all the time. So, feel free to contact me or visit WedPlan to get quotes on vendors locally.

In my professional opinions some of the better ones are the ones just starting out because they still have the appreciation for the art of photography and are not just about making the money. So with that said look in social networking sites, linkedin, facebook and check your local photography schools for students about to graduate as well. Good Luck!
Just a tip I give my brides..pay or ask for a complimentary session to actually experience their work, many will give you an engagement session as part of your package.

Jeff and Ana with K and K Photography are AMAZING. Check out their website for their portfolio and some examples of what they do. They've photographed 4 of my very best friends' weddings now and the pictures are always breathtaking.

Go and search the photographers online with web sites. Many have previous work displayed.
Have you thought about videographers? Although photos are wonderful, they only capture a fraction of time, whereas the video will capture the event for you to play over and over for years to come. Many times you won't even know the things that went on around you until you play your video. There will be many people and voices and emotions that you can not capture with a photo. Be careful in choosing your videographer, though. I would suggest you look carefully at their previous work, because some like to use lots of zoom in their videos and side angle shots that do not look professional. It truly becomes hard to watch! Your Wedding happens only once, with no chance to try and do it again the right way.
We have done Wedding Videography since 1998 with many satisfied customers. We cover all of Central Florida, and The Brevard County area. Check out our web site. We also know some wonderful photographers and list them on our links page. Just go to Best wishes for your future from

Within yourself. Do what I did.
Start shooting commercial stills and news photos in your local TV station. Then, spend over thirty years shooting professionally. Eventually you'll come to understand that everybody is always getting better, and there is always someone better than you out there, so you must keep learning and pushing that envelope.
I know that this does not answer your question. But I suggest that you do more in your search than look in this forum. And PLEASE don't trust the Yellow Pages. I am convinced that they are no longer even a good starting point. Way too expensiveof an advertising forum to find a clever and artisitc photographer. Most artistic and creative wedding photographers are too smart to waste several hundred dollars a year on a dinky Yellow Pages ad, and thousands of dollars on a real Yellow Pages ad.

I'd go to google.com and type in your town and state, then hit Enter. Then click on the map, and you'll see a "balloon" that comes up marking your city. Click it, then click "search nearby" and type "wedding photography". You will then see a list, complete with reviews. Best of luck!!
