As a professional florist I have to recommend choosing a local florist to design your wedding flowers. We recently had a consultation with a bride who decided to "choose another source." The source she choose was an online vendor of wedding flowers. Her flowers arrived 4 days before the wedding and were falling apart and wilted on the day of her wedding.
Choosing a local florist can give you peace of mind and any florist worth their weight in rose petals can give you exactly what you want within the budget parameters you have. Don't be afraid to ask your florist to work with your budget. Be open to suggestions of seasonal flowers and perhaps substitutions for flowers you might want but that are expensive.
Wedding flowers are such an important part to your big day, choose wisely and maintain your budget with the help and expertise of a professional florist.

Its not a matter of buying inexpensive flowers but rather choose flowers that are in season in your own area, make a priority list, and give your florist your budget. It is why you hire a professional. They will know how to make the most of your floral budget.

I decided to recycle my flowers. Instead of doing flowers in vases I worked with a nursery to bring flowering plants and arrange them in the reception. I then enrolled a few of my closest friends to haul them to my house after the reception and after my honeymoon we planted them throughout our yard. We needed plants anyway. And every year we remember our day with all the flowers that bloom during our anniversary! Why throw away all those beautiful flowers when you can see them year after year, right?

Best way to find a value on wedding flowers is to book appointments with 2 or 3 small, family owned flower shops in your area. Be up front with them about your actual floral budget and they can make suggestions to you about best flowers for the money during the season you are being married. I work with brides on tight budgets all the time and we have never once had to say "No" to a dream. Take care and happy wedding!Answered by Glendale Flowers 7145 N 58th Dr, Glendale, AZ, 85301, 623-931-2416 (Novice with 4 pts.)

I wouldn't be looking at just price. Your wedding flowers will be one of the areas in your wedding where you don't want to skimp. The flowers have to last throughout not only the ceremony, but also the pictures. A great alternative to real flowers is to go with silk flowers. They never wilt and can be "preserved" very easily.

Dear mjwrosch of Ca,
When it comes to wedding flowers on you most special day, don't risk it. Set a budget that you want to spend, consult a local florist and tell them you budget and what you want, and that professional can tell you whats possible and relastic. I have heard numerous "horror stories" of brides on their wedding day come to me to fix the mess that was created by not letting a local professional handle the most important day of your life. Your wedding week is not the time to attempt to "create" a bouquet. As a florist, we offer our Brides beautiful flowers within all budgets. Make an appointment with your local florist and go prepared, Have a budget in mind, colors, pictures of styles that you like and be prepared to talk about what your 'dream' wedding is all about. If your budget is really tight then have a professional design your bouquet and choose less detailed hand clusters for your attendants.Candles can be used as centerpieces but use enough to have an impact. Talk to the florist, then go home and compare what it will cost you to do all of this yourself...just dont make your wedding day an exhausting one...it is labor intensive to create florals. Where will you process them, store them, transport them...we do this as part of our service. Good luck but dont rule out using a local florist for your Great Day..and congratulations on your engagement!

Start by visiting a local flower shop in your area. Maybe it's not "inexpensive flowers" you are looking for. Maybe what you actually want is to find out how to maximize your floral budget. As long as you select flowers that are in season, most can be used without breaking your budget. Your florist may even offer selections you were unfamiliar with. Most "expensive" flowers have a similar substitute at a more reasonable price. One way to maximize your floral budget is by using your floral arrangements more than once. Example: altar arrangements used in the church can be moved to the reception, brides and bridesmaids bouquets can be used at the reception to decorate tables. Call your local flower shop to schedule an appointment. A consultation is about more than just selling flowers. To many florists it's about working with a bride to make her wedding dreams come true ~ regardless of budget.

When choosing flowers for your wedding ask the right questions of your local florist. Most professional florists will help you chose the flowers that are more economical. Roses, Orchids and Lilies cost more than Daisies and carnations. A smaller bouquet will cost less than a larger one. Some offer packages. If you will be freeze drying your bouquet to preserve it always let the florist know and she will be able better serve your needs.
