How to Evaluate Contractor Services
A contract is often defined as a meeting of the minds between two or more persons. Both parties have their rights and duties to fulfill what is being agreed upon. Primarily, a contractor has the obligation to deliver the services offered, while the clients have the right to evaluate if the contractor rendered the services accordingly based on the agreement.
- Check the completeness of the services rendered. Fundamentally, the end of the contract begins upon completion of the duties promised by the contractor. In this stage, clients should evaluate if the service is completely done.
- Inspect the quality of the service rendered. Completeness alone does not necessarily mean that the contractor fulfilled the services; ensuring quality, functionality, safety and other important details is necessary.
- Confirm if the project or services are done in due time. Untimely delivery of the service promised is actually a breach of the agreement. You should take note on this to properly discuss the damage and liabilities of the contractor, if in case there is, depending on your terms and demand of the project.
- Observe how the service or work was performed. Take note if during the period of rendering the services the contracting organization observed the following: cooperation between the team, proper communication and coordination between the staff and other members, as well as the professional behavior of the group.
- Make sure the project has been effectively managed. You can find out by going through the details of the service rendered. Ineffective project management will automatically reflect on the service rendered, so you need to go through the details of the finished project.
- Ensure that no breach of contract occurred on the side of the contractor. If there is any breach of contract, you should discuss it with the contractor to settle any loss or damages.
